Description
Fuchs text for plate 45: „Frau im Männersitz zu Pferde. Kopf oben geöffnet. Die Öffnung dienre möglich-erweise zur Anbringung eines Kopfputzes. Rötlichgelber Tonscherben. Durchweg gelb glasiert. Höhe 31,5 cm.“ Lepke: "Reiter zu Pferde"

Provenance
Eduard Fuchs Collection acquired between 1912-1922 and in his possession there until 1933; 25.10.1933 confiscated by the Gestapo; forced sale (payment of Reichsfluchtsteuer) by his daughter Gertraud Fuchs: Auktionshaus Rudolph Lepke Berlin, Catalogue 2115, p. 8 - on 15.10 and 16.10.1937 this sculpture was auctioned under No. 50, but there it was described as a rider and not as a female rider as in Fuchs' work: "TONFIGUR: Reiter zu Pferde; gelblich glasiert. Höhe 32 cm. Tang“. According to the annotated Lepke-catalogue (Kunsthistorische Bibliothek, Den Haag) by a so far unknown dealer or collector Zeckendorf auctioned for 24,- RM (no estimate). The transcript of the minutes of the auction 2115 at the Reich Chamber of Fine Artists notes "Zeckendorf" in typescript and confirms the price of 24,- RM (Landesarchiv Berlin, A Rep. 243-04 Reich Chamber of Fine Art - Landesleitung Berlin); whereabouts unknown
