The export permit for the family's art collection was denied. The collection was packaged, shipped to a shipping company, and confiscated by the National Socialists after November 11, 1941, after the family fled Hamburg via Portugal to the United States; sold at the Dorotheum on Nov. 4, 2010 (lot 189) and Sotheby’s London on Oct.12, 2000 (lot 2); consigned to but withdrawn from the March 24, 2011 Dorotheum auction (Lot 166)
