Description
Rectangular, foldable cover. Gold, at edges mouldings made of two hues of gold. surfaces covered with transparent green enamel on ground with guilloche-pattern. At cover a miniature portrait of a young lady inside a golden small frame; wearing a rose dress, a feather of an ostrich and a rose scarf on her head. On ivory under glass, not signed. Inside smooth gold. Mark: at bottom, rim of cover Jb. E (crowned) Paris, 1768 - 1769, R.6426, "tenant sign" R.6524, Julien Alaterre, 1768 - 1774, master sign LR. R.6714, Louis Roucel, Mr. 1763 - 1779, engraved at rim: Roucel Orf'e du Roi A Paris
