Description
Mary in golden garmlet and dark blue coat on a throne of stone. She's turning her head to the infant Jesus, who is standing at her left knee, dressed in light red, rised his right hand for blessing and ist holding a scroll in his left hand with the inscription FIAT. On both sides of the throne an angel in light yellow garmlets. In front of the base of throne Saint Cathrine is standing in a golden garmlet and cherry-red coat, on the right Bartholomew in golden garmlet and purple, blue fitted overcoat. Golden ground. The golden robes and halos are punched delicately. Frame of wood an red velvet. At bottom a slim applied strap, that's covered by the frame. Former (until 1920) Kunsthalle zu Karlsruhe, Katalog Nr. 401. Jörg Trübner dates the production of the painting between 1350 and 1360. The earliest work of this master. See Cicerone, 1927, S. 271 ff.
