Description

Replication of the object [H4 156/52], only slightly larger, roundish in modeling, less decided in the head turn. The left forefinger obtained, some toes on his left foot missing.

[H4 156/52: Naked man, turned to his left. Put your left leg backwards stretched out his left arm pointing downward, splayed his right arm. The right hand holds the hilt; of the left hand is missing the thumb. The head with abundant curly hair and beard, domed forehead, straight, short nose.

The statuettes were done by Giovanni da Bologna. The figure of the naked heroe can be seen as a transformation of the Neptune on the Neptune fountain in Bologna. Instead of the trident Giambologna took the sword, the left hand of the hero is now up to the body and displays the bottom, the stand design was brought in a new ponderation.
