Provenance

Owner fled Poland in 1940 because he was wanted by the Nazis for engaging in various activities on behalf of the Allies. Many of the family’s art works were left behind at their homes (the Palace Lubostron and Palace Czerniejewo) and subsequently confiscated by the Nazi Arthur Greiser. Much of the collection was deposited in Poznan museums, and other parts of it were entrusted to the town church (and later looted by the Nazis).
