Description

Shape:

Concave curved foot; narrow oval body with flat sloping shoulder; concave neck and wide projecting mouth.

Décor:

Directly above the edge of the foot, a centered gnarled branch, dense vegetation of narrow, long leaves, flower branches along the outside, between the branches a sitting bird as well as several birds and insects in flight; on the right side in the branches two squirrel-like mythical creatures; around the neck a board gold border of large leaves and flowers on delicate stems.

Manufacture's mark: underglaze blue AR monogram.

Provenance
Dresden Castle, tower room; the collection of porcelain, together with the carpets, furnishings from the porcelain gallery and scientific material (10 boxes), was relocated to 16 different locations in a total of 1211 boxes. The relocation sites, some of which were castles and manor houses, served as refugee accommodation after 1945. As part of the collection was later offered for sale by private individuals or found in private estates, it is assumed that some of the losses were due to looting and destruction. According to the loss report for the porcelain collection from 1991, a partial transport to the Soviet Union cannot be ruled out.
