Description
Sugar box belonging to a five-piece solitaire set; cylindrical box, decorated like the coffee pot and the cream jug; horizontal oval medallion with an antique-like figure painted in sepia tones on each side: a. girl playing astragaloi, holding a bowl in her right hand, recumbent on an oval pedestal, facing left; b. naked girl sitting on a fur, facing left, also on an oval pedestal.
Provenance
Gotha coffee-set (4 pieces) purchased in March 1929, from E. Kahlert, Ifta near Eisenach, for the sum of 250 marks.
