Provenance
Lost in 1945 in the Huysburg parsonage. When the monastery took over the parish of Huysburg from the deceased parish priest of the diocese in 1979, extensive building and renovation work began in the former rectory. In the process, 14 portraits of the abbots of Huysburg Abbey were discovered. Furthermore, three paintings of saints were discovered in a former smokehouse of the rectory and next to them a newspaper of the Red Army from May 1945 in Russian. A reference to the inspection of the monastery's paintings by members of the Soviet army. It cannot be ruled out that 33 of the 47 portraits were transported in the context of the Second World War.
