Signed lower left: A Lier. The river winds down through flat terrain to the foreground right. On the right it is bordered by a forest, on the left by the Dammweg, on which strong horses, facing forwards, pull two ships with lanterns shining at their bow. The moon stands in the middle and throws its rays broadly into the slightly wavy flood.
