Cf. German description in Karl Woermann's Gallery Catalogue, Dresden 1905, p. 274, no. 839; The holy Magdalena. Half-length figure to the right on a green ground. She is wearing a black dress and a black hat; with both hands she is holding the golden ointment vessel.

Provenance

Purchased in 1840 for the Royal Gallery Dresden from the art dealer Caspar Weiß. Not later than 1843 in stock. 1940 relocated to the Albrechtsburg Meißen. Removed to the Pockau-Lengefeld limestone quarry at the end of April 1945. Whereabouts unknown.
