Description
Signed on the bottom left: „A. V. Velde f.“; two cows stand in the water, where a girl in blue skirt and yellow bodice is washing her feet; behind her, a flute-playing shepherd leans on a monument with a vase; on the right, sheep are resting; on both sides, there are deciduous trees between which sunlit mountains can be viewed.
Provenance
From the collection of duke Ernest II of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (cf. 1826 inventory). [...]. Part of the paintings discarded in 1897 (see file); lost before 1943; whereabouts unknown.
