Provenance

According to correspondence dated 7 October 1937, the antiquarian bookseller Eugen Brüschwiler, Türkenstr. 13, Munich, made the Maximilian Museum an offer to buy the painting, which belonged to ‘an acquaintance’ of his, for whom he was to carry out the sale. The painting could be purchased for 120 RM plus a commission of 15 RM. The painting was purchased by decree on 11 November 1937 for 135 RM.
