Provenance
When the National Socialists came to power, Alfred (1850-1941) and Hedwig (1855-1942) Pringsheim were increasingly exposed to persecution as Jews and fled to Switzerland in October 1939. As a result of this persecution and their forced departure, they sold a part of their collection, including the tapestry, to the Munich art dealer Julius Böhler on 26 July 1939. From there, the object was transferred to the Schnütgen Museum in Cologne on 7 September 1939.
Until 26 July 1939 Alfred and Hedwig Pringsheim Collection - 26 July to 7 September 1939 Julius Böhler art shop - acquired by the Schnütgen Museum, Cologne, on 7 September 1939.
