Description
The slightly fluted lid of the tin shows an engraved pair of lovers being watched by a woman on a balcony above. The scene is framed by rocaille work, in which Cupid sits on the left and points to those involved.
The underside of the tobacco tin also shows a pictorial representation: an elegant lady with a fan sits in a garden and is apparently drawn to the lid by Cupid.
The tin itself is rectangular with curved narrow sides. The side wall is framed by the base and lid profile. The inside of the tin is gilded. Bottom engraving: "J C MH=II SB 1752"
