Description

Rectangular casket, tortoiseshell with brass inlays and rosewood (Boulle technique), gilt bronze.

Bronze volute: stamp: crowned C as an indication of Paris as the place of manufacture.

Lid: double monogram LL for Louis XV, King of France.

Body: label, marked tortoiseshell case with gilt bronzes/ France, 18th century/ sold by Hahn, Frankfurt, 27th August/ until 28th August 1940 ( removed, now archive Huelsmann).

Body: adhesive label, C.I.N.O.A./ International Art/ Treasures/ Exhibition/ Victoria & Albert/ Museum 1962/ EXHIBIT No. 427 ( removed, now Huelsmann archive).
