Description
This painting is attributed to the Italian artist Cristoforo Munari. By means of musical instruments, books and a so-called armillary sphere, a device for visualising the position of celestial bodies, he thematises the sciences and the arts. The broken strings and the pages turned by a breeze allude to the transience of life and the arts.
