Small teapot
This object was part of the collection of Alfred JOSEPH. In 1939, the director of the Mainfränkisches Museum, Clemens Schenk (director 1926-1945), acting on behalf of the Foreign Exchange Office in Würzburg, arranged for the confiscation of a Dutch Baroque cabinet, a Dutch still life, six prints and a total of 19 faiences from Joseph's possession. Among them was this little jug. Schenk had the objects deposited in the museum in a room specially set up for confiscations by the foreign exchange office. On 16 March 1945, the museum building was completely destroyed. According to Max H. v. Freeden (assistant in 1938, curator in 1939, director at the Mainfränkisches Museum from 1949 to 1978), only one object from the Joseph Collection was saved from the rubble of the former museum building, albeit damaged, namely the "Bayreuth, Teekännchen Marke BP".
