Description
With a handshake the Roman generals Octavian and Marcus Antonius (Marc Anton, later Emperor Augustus) reconcile; in the background their respective retinue.
On the carpet, the antique scene is surrounded by a border of Roman weapons, carafes and armour. At the top, two scarves show the abbreviation for the motto and emblem of ancient Rome SPQR. What the four scenes in the oval medallions represent - including a shipwreck - remains to be clarified.

1945/46 Found in an arbour in Geringswalde (Saxony), origin unknown; after the end of the war stored in a school in Geringswalde (Saxony); around 1971 given to the Museum Schloss Rochsburg (old inventory number from 1971), no further documents available
