Madonna dell' Umiltà
...; Carl von Weinberg (1861-1943), Frankfurt a. M .; Sold to the City of Frankfurt am Main (Städtische Skulpturensammlung im Liebieghaus), November 1938.
A historical recording dating back to 1905 shows the retable at its site in the chapel of Villa Waldfried, Carl von Weinberg's residence.
In November 1938 it was acquired by the City of Frankfurt. It is listed on the "Liste der Kunstwerke, die von der Städtischen Galerie aus der Sammlung Carl v. Weinberg (Waldfried) erworben wurden" under No. 590 (Städel Archive, Frankfurt am Main, File 615). This inventory number of the Weinberg collection is still found today on an adhesive label on the frame edge of the retable. With the entrance into the collection of the Liebieghaus the Retabel received Inventarnummer 1129.
The art collection of vineyards sold to the city of Frankfurt in 1938 was restored to the only heir to Carl von Weinberg, Richard von Szilvinyi (1899-1966), on the basis of the decision of the municipal council of 10 November 1949. The works of art were handed over to Szilvinyi himself, as well as to the attorney Helmuth Henze, appointed by him, and to the art dealer Wilhelm Henrich of Frankfurt am Main. On a receipt dated 11.11.1952 by William Henrich, the retable is listed under No. 1129 entitled "Gotische Holzretabel" (Städel-Archiv, Frankfurt am Main, file 609). It is still today in the Liebieghaus.
