Political conversation at the pub table
The painting shows three men around a table in an inn, one of them standing, pointing to a spot on the map spread out on the table and looking at the gentleman sitting on a barrel on the right. Next to him, his coat lies on the back of an ornately turned chair. The third person sits at the other side of the table, embracing a beer mug; behind him, cupboards and a portrait on the wall can be made out. On the left in the background at another table in a window alcove, other boisterous people with beer mugs can be seen.
The work is signed and dated "Friedländer 863." at lower left.
