The playing card collection was relocated to an Altenburg bunker in 1943. During the dismantling of the Altenburg playing card factory, the collection was treated as a company archive and transported away in 45 crates by the trophy commission (Soviet Military Administration) in May 1946. In addition to the playing cards, the specialist library of the playing card collection was also removed.
